Kate Stern is one of the three owners at Antigone Books. Originally from Colorado, Kate moved to Tucson in the summer of 2015. Having worked at Tattered Cover Bookstore in Denver, her heart was set on working at Antigone Books and she applied as soon as she got to town, landing the job in early 2016. When the owners announced their retirement in 2017, she began working toward trying to buy the store along with two co-workers. In 2018, Morgan, Melissa, and Kate were able to purchase the store with the help of an SBA loan and an Indiegogo campaign. Since then, she has been focusing on evolving as a small business owner, keeping Tucson local, reading and recommending books, making art, gardening, and riding her bike around town.
